Earlier this week, horrifying videos surfaced of a United passenger being forcefully dragged off of an overbooked flight, after refusing to give up his seat. Though the United CEO referred to the incident as a “passenger re-accommodation,” and defended the crew’s reaction on the plane in a letter to employees, the court of Twitter has been far less sympathetic. Instead, criticism of the airline’s actions has been harsh, if also darkly humorous. Twitter users are using the hashtag #NewUnitedAirlinesMottos to poke fun at the airlines.

Here are some of the funniest tweets:

Here’s why learning cursive handwriting is still important

Much of the educational research about writing highlights the value and importance using cursive handwriting. Studies show that joining letters not only helps to increase the speed at which children work but crucially aids their mental processing skills, helping them to think more fluently.

Additionally, it has been shown that cursive writing helps children improve their spelling accuracy. Writing letters in groups that have meaning (phonemes) rather than in isolation can aid the long-term memory of spellings and also builds up comprehension skills.

However, cursive writing can feel confusing and a little overwhelming to start with. Your son has gained confidence in writing each letter of the alphabet as a separate entity and has grown used to printing letters over several years. It’s normal for him to find the transition to cursive writing difficult. He will probably take a short dip in confidence until he masters the skill – which only comes with practise.

Some primary schools in Hong Kong (and in Malaysia) begin to teach cursive writing as soon as children enter Year One. Often, pupils know the letters of the alphabet and are ready to move on to the next stage of using a more flowing and natural style of writing. Although this approach can appear more difficult initially, as individual letters become less clear, it can be easier than converting from printed to joined letters at an older age.

Sometimes, teachers insist that each letter is formed from the baseline so that pupils naturally, and often seamlessly, progress to cursive writing.

Safiq Rahim hat trick, JDT win 7-0 vs. Melaka United in MSL

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) racked up the biggest win in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) this season when they annihilated Melaka United 7-0, inspired by a Safiq Rahim hat trick at Larkin Stadium on Sunday night.
The Southern Tigers' thumping win takes them to third in the league with a game in hand, ending their run of consecutive defeats in Cup competitions.
JDT lost 3-2 to Pahang in the first leg quarterfinals of the FA Cup on April 1 before going down 3-2 to Global FC in the AFC Cup four days later.
But the true goal fest was in Johor, and it began as early as the seventh minute through Argentine striker Gabriel Guerra.
Safiq added a second 10 minutes later before the JDT captain laid on an assist for Amirulhadi Zainal to put the game to bed with a third.
But Safiq was just getting warmed up. His through ball after 33 minutes found Gonzalo Cabrera who finished home to make it 4-0.
Any hopes of Melaka exercising damage control after the break evaporated just a minute into the second half as Azamuddin Akil joined the party with a fifth.
Safiq would be rewarded for his sterling performance with JDT's sixth goal in the 58th minute, before capping a man-of-the-match performance by converting a penalty two minutes from time to take home the match ball.
The set-piece specialist, who is also expected to return to national team after a brief Malaysia retirement, has now scored four league goals in 2017 to match his tally from last season.
JDT will overtake co-leaders Pahang and Kedah if they win away to Kelantan on Wednesday.

Tottenham superior to Arsenal after power shift in north London.

Tottenham have become the dominant team in north London and can confirm their authority with a derby win over Arsenal later this month.

Mauricio Pochettino's side kept up the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea with a record 11th-straight home win on Saturday, thrashing Watford 4-0.
The Blues' subsequent win at Bournemouth means Spurs still trail the title favourites by seven points - but they are 14 points clear of arch rivals Arsenal, who have two games in hand.
Tottenham and Arsenal will go head-to-head at White Hart Lane, on April 30, with the home side knowing victory could all but confirm a first league finish above the Gunners since 1994/95.
